For your safety
In using the light curtain, please establish a control system to satisfy the below items in order to ensure safety with a total system.
In the case of Safety Category 4 or 3
■In preventing safety functions loss caused by a single failure
Ensure to install both outputs of OSSD1 and OSSD2.
(OSSD = Output Signal Switching Device)
■In preventing safety functions loss caused by accumulated failures
Ensure to establish a control system that monitors both control outputs of OSSD1 and OSSD2 and shuts off the machinery if a mismatch is detected.
< Examples of how to detect a mismatch >
(Example 1) Install a relay unit and a controller made exclusively for light curtains.
(Example 2) Monitor the control outputs (OSSD1, OSSD2) by a safety PLC.
(Example 3) Monitor the deposit of contacting points of a safety relay.
In the case of Safety Category 2
In the case that either of the control outputs of OSSD1 or OSSD2 is used, ensure to connect an auxiliary output to PLC
or other devices in order to monitor operation of the main unit, and establish the control system which shuts off the machinery if a mismatch
between the control output (OSSD) and the auxiliary output was detected. The other control output (OSSD) can be used instead of an auxiliary output.
